People Record

The People Record is a database that I keep that contains a myriad of information about the people that are relevant in my life. The most important piece of information to me is a person’s Security Clearance, which is something I assign everybody that indicates how much I trust them with certain types of information about myself.

Why do you do this?

It started because I am forgetful, and wanted to remember when my friends birthdays were! Then I realized that I could store other useful information in there, such as the things they like to talk about or whether they observe religious practices (so I could avoid cooking meat for them improperly, for example). Now, I track a whole bunch of useful stuff, mostly still because my memory is not reliable enough for my needs.

What is a Security Clearance?

A person’s security clearance is a value I assign to them consisting of one letter (called the class) and one number (called the clearance), such as D6. With this, I have an idea of who I trust to receive certain amounts and types of information about myself. For a full list of the security clearances, click this button:

How up to date is it?

My policy says that any active record should be updated (or at least reviewed) no less frequently than every 200 days. However, this is not often respected and there are many records labeled “Old”, meaning they have not been updated recently.

What information is in it?

Great question! I store a lot of information in the People Record. Since nearly all of it is optional, many records have numerous blank fields. For a full list of the information I could store in any given record, click this button:

What is my information?

You do not have access to know the information I keep about you in the People Record, unless you have A Class Security Clearance. As a courtesy, I will usually tell you your Security Clearance upon request, but you will likely never be given access to the rest of the information I have about you or anybody else.

How long does it last?

I have a policy of never removing a person’s record once they are added. If they fall out of my life, they will just move down in the security clearances list accordingly and become inactive records.

Can I be removed?

No. As a private person manually generating and entering this data, I’m allowed to store, manipulate, use, alter, keep, and share this information as I see fit. I am under no obligation to share it with you, delete it upon request, or give you any access to view, edit, or remove it. If you submitted the data to me through my form, you had to read the disclaimer which also informed you of these conditions. I am not a company that is collecting data from you based on your browsing history or something like that, I am a person who is managing my own database manually. If you have a problem with that, you can talk to me about it, but I will likely just tell you what I said here.

My data practices are not a secret. I’m not trying to hide how I’m using this data. I’m making it very clear that I can and will do anything I want with it.
